New Hair

I had long hair for the longest longest time. So long till I can even remember when! Not to just mention long hair but also permed hair. Probably since 2007 or so, I have started perming my hair and since then my hair hasn't seen a single day of straightness. Just imagine, yearly perm or rather sometimes I have to go for half-yearly perm to maintain the curls and all. From Chapter 2, Ric to Jeff and then to Christine. Just last 2 years was this new salon at 313 Somerset. Perming. I am not exactly a pro but you can ask me questions. Think I should be able to answer you. At least for the amounts that I spent on my hair, I can answer you decently.

However just last december, God knows what happens, my ends started splitting and drying up badly. So I decided to snap off about 2 inches to make it look healthier. People, like me always think that they want long long hair so they don't cut it at all. But the fact is that regular trimming is important to maintain the health and look of the hair. The only solution to split ends is to snap it off.

That was 6 months into my latest perm. Which means that the most bottom curls, where its the curliest would be snap off. How straight would it be right. Straight and black hair don't gel together. It will look dull. My policy is, if I want it straight, sure! But I want to color it. Something which I had prolonged for the longest time also. I had always wanted to dye my hair but my previous He don't fancy it so I dropped the idea. Even after I was dumped, I had entertained the thought of it but just kept procrastinating it since I thought it was damaging enough that I had it permed.

I showed the stylist the brown color which I some sort wanted but in a warmer tone after my intensive research. She suggested a "see got see don't have" and "under the light will be obvious" brown. Didn't think too much and I just give it a go! Results was not that bad, had only wished it to be lighter so that it would be more obvious. I had a colleague asking me what's my color tone cause she had wanted something like mine too!

Allright color done.

Next is the length. Since that visit, I was somehow hooked. Hooked into getting my hair cut shorter and shorter. Yes. Another two more visits and my hair ended up like as it is.

Yes! Damn short.
I didn't know what's got into me either. Never had this short for the longest time! But I felt relieved and anew! Ha! Comments received so far are that it suits me, and that I look better like this compared to previous. KS said it looked "modern" on which Hwee queried "would anybody say modern? Auntie maybe?" Hwee and Mr Yeo both find "its neither short or long. In that case, longer better"

Most importantly, I think I quite like it though I do need abit of time to get used to it. Just imagine, I was so protective of my long hair before. The one year ago Me, would never had this short!

But I don't need to get used to the amount of reduced time spent on blow drying it. Blow drying now is much easier and faster. The diffuser will now take a back seat. Just a round comb will do. Hwee noticed I started to carrying the round comb over to his place during weekends and asked why didn't I just buy another and leave it over his place. I complained that this comb is damn expensive. Its 10over dollars!
Then one fine friday night when I went to his room, saw this body shop paper bag siting on the floor. I though I had left it previously. Opened up, its a new round comb. :)
